Why Do Some Sites Get More Organic Traffic Than Others?

Now here is something that really baffles me. I have a particular website that I spend all my time generating backlinks and traffic to and in all the time I have spent on it I don't think I have generated half as much traffic as I have generated to this one particular blog, even though I do absolutely nothing with it.
I'll tell you what I'm talking about.
This particular website your one, has received well over 18,000 visitors in the last few months without any promotion at all. No article marketing, no ppc, no JV's nothing and still the traffic pours in. Hence the title of this post, why is it that some websites get more organic traffic than others?
If there's someone out there who can explain why this is so I would love to have your comments.

So very quickly using some reverse engineering, how do you get traffic to your website. Look at the biggest traffic sites online such as youtube and see what videos are getting massive views in your chose niche market. look at the description they are using as well as the tags then you just go and reverse engineer your own traffic with this information.

Okay so just how can you make money online, you can make money online using adsense with google. I find google very hard to work with because any slightest mistake then you get banned. One such mistake is your source of traffic. If they are not pleased with your source of traffic they will ban you. This is one reason why I don't use them much.
You can always write articles and get paid for the articles you write.
You could decide to venture into affiliate marketing, but then you need to know what products to promote and how to get targeted qualified traffic to the offers.
You can advertise on your website or blog, that is if you're really getting massive amounts of traffic to them. You can make money from letting people place adds on your website.
You can also promote CPA offers, cpa offers are simple cost per action, whereby you get paid for a certain action your website visitors take on your website. These actions may include simply filling out a form on your website or a partners website, then you get paid.
You could also get paid using shortening websites. These are websites that allow you to shorten long url's into short compact ones.
You then place these short links on advertisement boards and when visitors click on them they are taken to an advertisement for a few seconds, before they can now click to the page you intended them to go to initially. You get paid commissions when people visit those links.
